Easter unit study?

I would like to do an Easter unit study with our kids this year. Does anyone have any good suggestions for this? Our kids are 16,11, and 7. I would prefer something that only lasts 1-2 weeks since we have our baby on the way.

Pumpkin Crunch Dessert

Here is a recipe that I haven't made in years. I meant to make it around Thanksgiving but just never got to it. So, I made it today.

~1(15oz can pumpkin
~1 can evaporated milk
~3 eggs
~1 1/2 C. sugar
~4t. pumpkin pie spice
~1 box yellow cake mix
1 stick margarine or butter

Combine first 6 ingredients and pour into 9x13 inch pan or baking dish.
Sprinkle cake mix over top. Drizzle with butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes.

***You can make a batch of pumpkin pie spice by mixing together these ingredients:

1/4 C. cinnamon
1T. ginger
1T. nutmeg
1T. cloves

Enjoy!

Update on"T"

My dh and ds,"T" flew to Anchorage and back for his scoliosis check-up today. It turns out that "T" still has a 30 degree curve but has outgrown his brace already(He has only had it since November). So, he was fitted for another. This time he chose a camoflauge design. "T" had to call me from Anchorage because he missed me...awww....that's my little boy. When they got home, he curled up beside me and took a nap. He hasn't done that in a very long time. Don't you just love those moments?

Goings-on and thoughts for today

~ "B" had his first job interview tonight. He is hoping to get the job.
~"E" is on the phone as usual and probably taking pictures with her new camera, too.
~"T" decided he would make a kitchen creation today. He mixed together bread, jam, and spices. Then he had mom try it(mmm, uh, interesting...)
~Dh is relaxing while he watches TV. He's planning to watch"Bones".
~I am just sitting here typing away, reflecting on the day and waiting for the dryer to stop so I can fold yet MORE laundry.I have alot of laundry to do now and know that I will have alot more when the baby arrives. But that's okay because I am appreciative that I have my little family to do these things for and I look forward to folding those tiny clothes and putting socks on those itty bitty toes.
~Our baby has been moving around alot more lately which is a good thing since he or she didn't begin moving as early as my other children did. Dh is really happy to be having another baby and the kids are excited, too.
~We had tacos for supper tonight....one of"T"'s absolutely new favorite foods. He is such a picky eater and that is not a good thing since he is diabetic. He tried French toast for the first time today that "E" made and he loved it. So, there is another new food. It's not so bad when he eats it with sugar-free syrup.
~I am also thinking: Hmmm..when are we going to take these 3 cats back? I love my cats but they are just not working out right now especially with the new baby on the way.
~Thinking ahead to tomorrow, I think I might make a buttermilk-apple coffee cake. That just sounds good to me. What d'ya think? It is a new recipe that I found and if it turns out well, I will post the recipe.

Have a blessed day, readers!

January 16th

Wow! This pregnancy is going fast. I am a little over 6 1/2 months along already. The baby still isn't moving alot though but when I eat grapefruit or drink juice it gets a little bit more motivated. I am much bigger this time than I was with my last 3 children. It's getting harder to bend over to put my shoes and socks on or to pick something up. My cravings have been mostly fruit related~ fruit, fruit juice, popsicles, fruit smoothies. I guess that's good, right? I am not eating as much chocolate as I used to so that's good, too.
We are in the process of looking for a bigger home right now so I hope we can find one before the baby arrives. This pregnancy is going along so quickly and we are so not ready yet although I am excited about meeting this new little one. It has been almost 8 years since the birth of our last child and we basically have to start over~ new crib, carseat, etc.~ because we really didn't think we would have anymore children.......Surprise!~(and it was a wonderful surprise)
Dh has duty(training)this weekend so I talked him into taking us to the library tonight so we would have something to do this weekend. We got 6 videos and a bunch of books so I think we are set."T" got to play on the computer which I know he was happy about. We haven't been to the library in about 3-4 months.....it's surprising that I wasn't having library withdrawl. I just love going there and filling my bag with all kinds of interesting books. Tonight, my focus seemed to be on magazines and healing foods books. Since I am having gall bladder problems, I found a book that outlines a friendly diet concerning that. So, I may have to give it a try as I had some mild pain flaring up this past week.
With homeschooling, the kids and I are enjoying the MFW curriculum and having a more "Charlotte Mason" way of learning. It is so much more laid back and relaxed. There is no sense in stressing over learning.
Our oldest,"B" just put in his first job application. He hopes to get a job, save his money and buy a car. He still needs to get his license though. He will probably be taking driver's ed within the next couple of months. It's so hard to believe that he will be graduating next year while at the same time this year we are welcoming a new little one.
The weather here was refreshing today. It was almost 50 degrees. The last few weeks the temps have been -40 to -50 below 0! This was a welcome change. I didn't even have to wear a coat today. But, unfortunately it won't last long..we are supposed to be back to -30 below 0 in a few days...sigh.
